The venerable Illinois Junior Golf Association will offer something for just
about everyone in the coming months

School’s almost out, which means golf courses throughout Chicagoland will soon be brimming with kids.

Much of this seasonal youth boom can be traced to the work of the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA), an organization that serves golfers ages 6–18 and has been around since 1967.

The IJGA season runs from May through October and consists of over 100 events, but 85 of those occur from June 10 through August 10. Last year, the IJGA had approximately 2,300 members, and it expects that number to be about the same in 2012. All told, roughly 15,000 tournament rounds will be playe....
